The International Tapestry Triennial  is an ancient and important exhibition of the textile world. Hosted and organized by the Central Textile Museum of Lodz in Poland, it is now at its 16th edition.
For the first time in the organization the figure of a curator is expected, specifically Marta Kowalewska, has undertaken this task, and has prepared a series of important exhibitions focused on the art of textiles, and has studied the history and the context of the fabrics and analyzed the dissemination of the achievements of Polish authors on that front. creating the possibility of conferring a well-thought-out and coherent character to the whole presentation.
The format of this edition has been updated. In fact previously, the artists participated above all in the perspective of contacts with possible international clients.
This year the exhibiting artists come from all over the world and will not deal mainly with weaving but with all the expressions of the textile industry. Even for ideological connection and therefore there will be room for photographs, videos and other forms of expression related to the textile world.
The boundaries that divide the arts are increasingly thinning and in this important event we will have extensive demonstration.
This year the theme of the triennial is “Breaching Borders”. This topic includes many problems of the modern world, which redefine the meaning of the identity of our civilization, ethnic groups, social groups or each of us individually. In this continually evolving era we are forced to shift the boundaries of our understanding of reality or to delineate them, for example, in matters of personal dignity or sense of security.
We, as a civilization, aim for a world without borders? It seems that the borders have a pejorative meaning and their crossing is an expression of freedom. They have repeatedly proved to be the source of conflict between those who delineated them and kept them on one side and those who wanted to cross them on the other. Therefore, the maintenance of the integrity of the borders or their slaughtering shows itself as a huge problem of civilization, which is reflected in political, social, cultural, scientific and religious issues, in the problems that afflict each of us personally. Which finally finds its expression in art. The artistic fabrics have lived it in a remarkable way.

Parola d’ordine: Divulgazione!
