Call for Submissions: Voyage-mini textile art exhibition

The Finnish association of New Textile Art organises the first Voyage mini textile exhibition in fall 2023. Call for submissions is open to all professional textile artists around the world.
The artists are invited to interpret the exhibition theme ”Voyage” according to multiple approaches and viewpoints. A voyage can be seen as an abstract theme connected to life or time, or as a literal concept. The artworks can be based on traditional materials and textile techniques. A more experimental approach can also be implemented. The exhibition and the artworks are intended to provide the exhibition visitors a possibility to experience an unique voyage between cultures, different artistic approaches and artistic styles.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION:
Professional artists are invited to apply into the Voyage mini textile art exhibition in Craft Museum Of Finland 2023.
Two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks are accepted for participation. The maximum size for work is 20x20x20cm. The maximum size includes everything, also the possible framing or the structures required to set the work up.
Artists can submit up to 3 separate works. Artist applying to the exhibition should send the following information to: newtextileart@gmail.com:
- Application form
- 2 photos of each submitted work, one image of complete work, one image of a detail. Attached photos have to be of high quality 300 dpi in JPEG format, from 1 to 5 MB. Use your name and the title of the work in the name of the photo file, for example: Mary_Smith_Travel.jpg. The photos should demonstrate the real work intended for exhibiting.
The completed application form and photos are to be sent to newtextileart@gmail.com before 1st of May 2023.
PLEASE NOTE: The exhibition is displayed in the Craft Museum of Finland. In order to protect the museum’s textile collections, all the exhibited artworks with textile material will be treated with a freezing process. The artist is responsible for submitting only artworks that endure this treatment.
Selected works should be available for the exhibition from September 9th until December 3rd 2023.
Selected artists are liable to pay an exhibition fee of 60 euros. The fee includes a catalog and postal fees for the returning of the artwork (uninsured). A fee is applicable only for artists whose works are selected for the exhibition. Selected artists will be sent separate instructions on how to pay the participation fee. Vernissage of the exhibition is 8th of September 2023.
The jury of the exhibition will curate artworks for the exhibition by the end of May 2023. Selected participants are to send their artworks to the Craft Museum of Finland by 18th of August 2023.
Authors of the selected works will receive more detailed information from Finnish Association of New Textile Art UUTE ry about the delivery address and payment methods.
Works sent by mail must be in suitable re-usable packaging so the artworks can be returned after the exhibition.
