Chile, host country of the International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art WTA-2021 together with WTA, will hold the Pre-WTA Biennial online for the first time. The pandemic has hit us, shut us down and distanced us but it opens up a great opportunity for us to turn our emotions and creative processes into artworks and share them with the whole world. This Pre-Biennial online version will not replace the in-person one. It is an instance to bring together and to unite the world´s textile art community. In the next few days we will announce the summon with its participation bases. We appreciate your comments and helping us sharing this great event on your social networks.

La fibra di cotone ha protetto diverse popolazioni in tutto il mondo. In Mesoamerica, abbiamo anche una variante di colore marrone: coyuchi. In questa mostra è possibile scoprire i pezzi emblematici della collezione MTO in cui il cotone è il protagonista.
Ci proponiamo di mostrare la bellezza della fibra originaria del nostro paese, sia nella sua forma bianca che nelle varietà di colore
beige e caffè. Le popolazioni indigene del Messico e del Guatemala non solo hanno raggiunto un raccolto resistente e una fibra di eccellenza, ma sapevano come trasformarlo con magnifiche filature e trame ammirevoli. La loro arte e la loro abilità sopravvivono oggi giorno, resistendo all’assalto delle fibre sintetiche derivate dal petrolio e allo stridore dei colori prodotti da laboratori industriali…
