INSPIRATION – The international Fiber Art exhibition

The international Fiber Art exhibition “INSPIRATION” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Janina Monkute-Marks opens its doors from 21.09 to 11.11.2023, in the museum that bear her name, and which is now a department of the Kédainiai Regional Museum, in Lithuania.

The exhibition shows works of 40 artists from Argentina, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Finland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Romania, United Kingdom, USA. These are installations, murals, and textile sculptures.

The installation “SEM UNIT 2” by Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra Perego (Italy) welcomes visitors in the entrance hall. A large room is attributed to the artworks of Janina Monkute-Marks, the founder of the museum.
The great diversity of Fiber Art is perceptible by the numerous works presented throughout the museum by many talented artists from different countries of the world:

A large space is reserved to tapestries. Visitors discover the remarkably contemporary Gobelin tapestries of Danish artists: Anet Brusgaard, Gudrun Pagter, Bethe Forchhammer and Brigitta Hallberg, the originality of the Romanian artist Gabriela Cristu, the specificity of the Japanese artist Emiko Nakano as well as the imagination and the great technical skill of the Lithuanian artist Feliksas Jakubauskas.

The organizers welcome with great attention and warmly the Lithuanian and foreign visitors who they hope will be very numerous.

English version Sono nata a Monza nel 1969 ma cresciuta in provincia di Biella, terra di filati e tessuti. Mi sono occupata lungamente di arte contemporanea, dopo aver trasformato una passione in una professione. Ho curato mostre, progetti espositivi, manifestazioni culturali, cataloghi e blog tematici, collaborando con associazioni, gallerie, istituzioni pubbliche e private. Da qualche anno la mia attenzione è rivolta prevalentemente verso l’arte tessile e la fiber art, linguaggi contemporanei che assecondano un antico e mai sopito interesse per i tappeti ed i tessuti antichi. Su ARTEMORBIDA voglio raccontare la fiber art italiana, con interviste alle artiste ed agli artisti e recensioni degli eventi e delle mostre legate all’arte tessile sul territorio nazionale.
