Art historian specialising in the history of textile art&design. Weaver and designer of handwoven textiles for fashion and interior design from her own studio/workshop Indigo Estudio Textil. Lecturer, writer and researcher. For many years her research focused on innovation in handweaving materials and technology. Lately her practice motto could be loosely described as “back to the essence” by highlighting fibres properties and the creative potential of handlooms.

Curator and/or member of the jury of relevant textile art national and international exhibitions among them the WTA Biennials in Costa Rica and Colombia, Singular.es (2009), Peninsulares I, II and III (2013, 2021, 2022), Loose Ends (2014), Contextile (2014 – 2022), Pushing the limits (2019) and many others.

Selected lectures in 2021-2022: The Role of Textile Art Biennials and Triennials in Positioning Textile Art (Postgraduate studies in Applied Arts, Escola Massana, Barcelona); The Artification of Textiles (National Museum of Decorative Arts,Madrid); From the Lausanne Biennials to Today: the Origin and Evolution of Contemporary Textile Art (Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art, Sevilla), Text and Textiles (Matadero Madrid Cultural Hub) and many others.

Consultant and worker in the field in development projects in Iberoamerican and African countries, experiences that have greatly enriched her global understanding of textile crafts diversity and history as well as their role in empowering women and creating richness. Because she believes in cooperation and collaboration she has been -and still is- very active in associationism. Current  President of Asociación para la Creación Textil and Oficio y arte, the Spanish National Arts&Crafts Organization and member of the Advisory Council of the European Textile Network, ETN, that she chaired from 1997 to 2019. Proud member of Women in Visual Arts MAV and other associations and guilds.

As a writer she is former editor-in-chef of the European Textile Network e-Newsletter and the Asociación de Creadores Textiles de Madrid printed newsletter and collaborator of textile magazines as ArteMorbida and Selvedge. She is contributing an essay on that theme for the future Bloomsbury World Encyclopedya of Textiles (to be published in 2024).
