Fiber Art Italiana. I Pionieri (Arte Morbida edizioni) reconstructs the history of the birth and affirmation of Fiber Art in Italy: a current of contemporary art that unites researches based on textile practices and/or materials, assumed in material declinations or in their conceptual representations.
Renata Pompas wanted to reconstruct the evolution and affirmation of Fiber Art in Italy thanks to its Pioneers, to restore dignity and history to a rich and generous movement, untiring and proud of its making, recounting the founding artists who on this territory for a certain period intertwined their artistic paths, participating in group exhibitions that brought them together and encouraged comparison.
The book is divided into 61 chapters dedicated to first- and second-generation artists, reconstructs the history of the main group exhibitions in Europe and Italy from 1967 to 2023, highlighting their participation and becoming an indispensable tool for all subsequent historical studies.
A list of the author’s published articles is included in the appendix.
