Salut Textil: an exhibition of eco-sustainable textile crafts
On November 28thin the Convent of the Poor Clares in the Archaeological Museum of Gandia was inaugurated the exhibition of textile crafts “Salut Textil” curated by EmparAlandete I Perellò.
The exhibition will remain open until January 4, 2020.
“This installation is very special, the space where it takes place is the Gothic cloister of the Convent of the Poor Clares, in the so-called “Sala de les Dones”. Having this space with two floors has allowed me for the first time to divide the exhibition into two sections, on the ground floor I placed handcrafted fabrics made with the countermarch loom and all that surrounds them; on the first floor you are introduced to the magical and alchemical world of natural dyes and prints on natural fibers, I use a lot of recycled material, such as cotton sheets. This place, architectural jewel of the 15th Century, is now part of the Archaeological Museum of the city of Gandia, the San Marc Cultural Center, “El Maga”. This installation combines the world of ancestral wisdom of textile craftsmanship and the history of a Gothic cloister in a cloistered convent…”
