This event is dedicated to the late Fiorenzo Alfieri, once the Jury’s president.
“Tramanda” new edition has started, the international Fiber art event has an entirely new look. The exhibition is part of the “RestART! Imbiancheria del Vajro relational museum”, supported by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation through the call for proposals “Places of culture 2020”.
The show presents close to 100 artworks by international artists. The entries are divided into two groups: the fifth Young Fiber Contest (competition for very young people, born between 1984 and 1999) and the Open Call section, third edition, aimed at all artists, regardless of age, engaging with works on and off the loom.
The exhibition will be visible until 15 January in five different prestigious locations around Chieri, bringing new life to the city.
Gufo reale, Michele Liparesi
Most of the works of art will be shown at Imbiancheria del Vajro, one of Chieri’s oldest industrial buildings which, in the last 20 years, has hosted all the Fiber-Art related temporary events.
Some of the art pieces will be on display at Show Room Bonetto Design, the ideal setting for those artworks related to contemporary design. The “Words of the Earth” project encompassing the works of five international artists focusing on themes related to the environment, ecology and nature; is hosted inside the prestigious Palazzo Opesso.
Mariantonietta Bagliato
And, last but not least, two new cultural spaces are involved: the Museo del Tessile and the Casa Martini. This collaboration marks the willingness to bring forward an artistic and cultural proposal increasingly focused on Chieri’s heritage development to open the city to the whole world. The artworks linked to the theme of “Interconnessioni” will be presented at the Museo del Tessile. The collection “Trame d’autore” will be at Casa Martini, a museum of great interest in the area where the artworks are in dialogue with culture and the landscape, creating references, suggestions and discoveries.
Tiziana Tateo , Because we are Icons
The works of art were evaluated by a prestigious jury that met in January 2020 under the late Fiorenzo Alfieri’s presidency. The jury members were: Angelo Mistrangelo – vice president – Maria Francesca Garnero, Silvana Nota, Valeria Scuteri and Massimo Tiberio.
Among this year’s novelties is the new “Navetta di rame” Award, in collaboration with the Textile Museum, awarded to an artist reinterpreting and updating traditional textile techniques and designs in a contemporary manner. In addition, the “Felice Cavallotti” scholarship will be awarded by the Lions Club Torino, La Mole, to a young artist. A special commission identified among the member’s jury will choose an artist from the Young Fiber Contest for this price
