TRAMANDA “From Weaving to Fiber Art”

Italiano (Italian)

http://www.comune.chieri.to.it/eventi/tramanda

Tramanda is a tribute to the strong and historical textile identity of the City of Chieri, known for its weaving since the Middle Ages.

The artistic routes that will enrich the streets and the most prominent locations, have been designed to tell visitors about the city’s textile tradition and its artistic evolution arrived at Fiber Art, the international language that borrows the techniques of weavers to give rise to works of extraordinary beauty and charm.

When we talk about Fiber Art in Chieri we are talking about the Civic Collection Tramed’Autore, an institutional project that came into being in 1998 as part of the homonymous Biennials, organized on the idea of the Dutch artist Martha Nieuwenhuijs, and which now has almost 200 works of international caliber.

A collection that continues to be enriched thanks to the Young Fiber Contest, an international competition of Fiber Art now in its second edition, aimed at young Fiber Artists under 35 who, in their poetic and formal journey express the spirit of the Fiber philosophy. The competition was made possible thanks to the offer of the patron Giancarlo Sponga, husband of MarialuisaSponga, one of the most significant exponents of the artistic movement and author of numerous works from the Civic Collection.

Around the absolute protagonist of the exhibition Tramanda, the Young Fiber Contest – Urban Dialogues, exhibitions, concerts, street art performances are developed giving rise to artistic paths in which the thread will be the textile medium combined in different expressions within the reach of the small and large public.

Maria Rosaria Roseo
