Saturday May 21, 2022, at 6 pm, SCD STUDIO inaugurates in the spaces of the gallery in Perugia, via Bramante 22N, the third exhibition project dedicated to the relationship between word and fiber art with the exhibition of ARMADILLY, stage name of Camilla Cesarini, Trust me, I’m a liar, curated by Gemma Gulisano.
On display is a selection of works by the Pesaro artist – some unpublished – who through a pink pop language tells about a bored generation filtered by images posted on social media.
In Armadilly’s contemporaneity, the relationship with one’s body in front of a mirror and in front of the gaze of others becomes complicated in relation to the photographic showcase of social networks: Instagram and its gallery, in particular, constitute that business card that society imposes. .They are social dynamics perfectly described with marked irony and extreme effectiveness in her tapestries, embroidered cartoons that give life to a singular combination of pop language, enriched with a kitschy taste and social contents associated with trash culture.
The works are “children of their own time”, textile mirrors that reveal to the observer common behaviors that are sometimes unconscious conditioned by a culture of rampant hyper-connectedness or the relational dynamics of a generation that that same culture nourishes every day.
The magnetic strength of Armadilly tapestries lies in the awareness of that individualism that leads to social disintegration, the anxiety of pleasure at all costs, the aesthetic and behavioral standards administered by influencers on social media.
The exhibition will remain open until June 5, 2022.
Camilla Cesarini, aka Armadilly, born in 1995, earned a degree in Comics and Illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 2018. Among the recent exhibitions, in 2021, the solo exhibition at the Galleria Fidia in Rome and the double personal with Giosetta Fioroni at the first edition of the “Roma Arte in Nuvola” fair at the Nuvola di Fuksas. She is among the artists selected for the 2022 edition of Contextile. Her style is mainly inspired by the world of social media and fashion, with a particular interest in Pop Art and the 60s.
