Coyuchi and White: Cotton Flowers

The Cotton fiber has protected different populations all over the world. In Mesoamerica, we also have a brown variant: coyuchi. In this exhibition it is possible to discover the emblematic pieces of the MTO collection in which cotton is the protagonist.
We aim to show the beauty of the original fiber of our country, both in its white form and in the color varieties
beige and coffee. The indigenous peoples of Mexico and Guatemala not only achieved a resistant crop and a fiber of excellence, but they knew how to transform it with magnificent spinning and admirable plots. Their art and skills survive today, resisting the onslaught of synthetic fibers derived from oil and the screeching of colors produced by industrial laboratories …
