Curated by L. Mikelle Standbridge

The group exhibit “The yearning for the irrational” / “Il desiderio dell’irrazionale” invites the viewer to let down, just for a moment, their vigilance to responsibility. Artists are often called upon to engage their art to further justice, peace, equality, or the planet’s well-being, and many dedicated activist artists have responded with great art, for which we are all grateful. However, in light of the one most outstanding characteristic of Art – that it still holds the freest mental terrain that each individual has a constant right to access – this show would like to also highlight the personal, the idiosyncratic, or the positively impractical side of art.

In addition to the above exhibit at Casa Regis where there is a large amount of installation work, there is a virtual component to the exhibit, providing a platform to some of the above artist’s digital work – Fidler and Munari – as well as including several artists – Elvezia Allari, Guido Nosari, and Sophia Ruffini – whose projects can best be presented in the form of documentary photography.  Everyone is invited to reserve their guided visit by the curator of the show and founder of Casa Regis.

The artwork for this show was chosen because it fell somewhere within the arena of the unfeasible, the unattainable, the irrational, the hypothetical, the unrealistic, the paradoxical, the ironic, or the ridiculous. Contributing artists are: Barbara Matilde Aloisio, Michela Cavagna, Alice Sheppard Fidler, Lisa Fontana, Eleonora Gugliotta, Chen Li, Sara Munari, Greg Smith, and Giulia Spernazza, Yukoh Tsukamoto.
