Contextile 2020: Selected Artists

Contextile – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial 5th edition.
Guimarães / Portugal.  5th September/25th October 2020

870 artists from 65 countries have participated in the selection of the Contextile 2020 competition with 1150 artworks. Contextile 2020 invited a multidisciplinary jury, composed by Lala de Dios (curator and professor of History of art and textile); Janis Jefferies (curator and emeritus professor of visual arts); Rosa Godinho (visual and textile artist); Jorge Costa (curator and artistic director of CAC Graça Morais); Cláudia Melo, artistic diretor of Contextile 2020, who met in the past 3rd and 7th April, via VideoConference, given the special circumstances in which we all find ourselves, around the world.

Contextile 2020 thematic concept is: Places of Memory and 59 works by 50 artists from 29 countries – Portugal, several European countries, North and South American countries and Asian countries were selected.

The Acquisition Prize and honorable mentions will be assigned in the Opening of the Biennial, on the 5th September 2020, in Guimarães,Territory of Textile Culture, Portugal

English version Mi sono avvicinata al quilting nel 1992, da allora ho frequentato diversi corsi in Italia e negli USA per approfondire le tecniche del patchwork, passando dai disegni tradizionali o geometrici alle tecniche artistiche con cui posso esprimere la mia creatività. Insegno le tecniche base e avanzate dal 1998. Ho fondato la Scuola Romana Quilting nel 2015: http://www.scuolaromanaquilting.it/ e dal 2014 organizzo a Roma la mostra di ArtQuilting: ArteMorbida. A partire dal 2018, con la collaborazione di Maria Rosaria Roseo e altre colleghe/amiche abbiamo iniziato la pubblicazione di ArteMorbida Textile Arts Magazine. Oggi ArteMorbida è anche, finalmente, una rivista cartacea. Parola d’ordine: Divulgazione!
