Li Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano are pleased to announce the 9th edition of the Dorothy Waxman International Textile Design Prize, awarded to a current or recently graduated student in Textiles or Fashion who exhibits sustainable thinking and innovative creativity in textiles. The prize is part of the TALKING TEXTILES initiative that promotes textile education and creativity. The US $5,000 award is proudly provided by Mohawk Group, one of America’s foremost flooring companies and a leader in sustainability. The winner will be announced at the end of September 2023.

The finalists will present their work online in front of a professional jury on Zoom at the beginning of September 2023. The finalists’ work will be featured on various online and social media platforms throughout September 2023.

The Dorothy Waxman International Textile Design Prize honors Dorothy Waxman, the original driving force behind Trend Union and Edelkoort Inc. in the United States and a contributing reporter to the magazine View on Colour, Textile View and Viewpoint. Waxman’s insatiable curiosity and discerning eye for the avant-garde have inspired Edelkoort and the Trend Union team for decades. Waxman also introduced the American fashion industry to European textile partners with her work at the Fashion Group. As an avid textile aficionado, she believes that creative fabrics can change the design landscape in profound ways.

SUBMISSIONS RULES

The competition is international and open to students who are currently enrolled in an educational institution teaching textiles, fashion, interior or lifestyle textiles. Graduates from 2022 and 2023 are eligible to enter.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Conceptual description of the work max 200 words
Technical description of the work max 200 words
Minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 photographs of the work.
Required are JPEG minimum 300dp/ photo
Video files are accepted (not required but recommended) in addition to the JPEG

Finalists will be selected based on their innovation, creativity and their sustainable perspective

Li Edelkoort e Philip Fimmano sono lieti di annunciare la nona edizione del Dorothy Waxman International Textile Design Prize, che sarà assegnato ad uno studente in corso o neolaureato in Scienze tessili o della moda che presenti un modello di pensiero sostenibile e una creatività innovativa nel settore tessile. Il premio fa parte dell’iniziativa TALKING TEXTILES che promuove l’educazione e la creatività nel settore tessile. Il premio di 5.000 dollari USA è stato fornito da Mohawk Group, una delle aziende di pavimentazione più importanti d’America e leader nella sostenibilità. Il vincitore sarà annunciato alla fine di settembre 2023.

I finalisti presenteranno il loro lavoro online di fronte a una giuria professionale su Zoom all’inizio di settembre 2023. Il lavoro dei finalisti sarà presentato su varie piattaforme online e di social media per tutto settembre 2023.

Il Dorothy Waxman International Textile Design Prize onora Dorothy Waxman, la forza trainante originaria di Trend Union e Edelkoort Inc. negli Stati Uniti e giornalista collaboratrice della rivista View on Colour, Textile View e Viewpoint. L’insaziabile curiosità e l’occhio perspicace di Waxman per l’avanguardia hanno ispirato Edelkoort e il team di Trend Union per decenni. Waxman ha anche presentato l’industria della moda americana ai partner tessili europei con il suo lavoro presso il Fashion Group. In quanto appassionata appassionata di textile, crede che i tessuti creativi possano cambiare il panorama del design in modo profondo.

REGOLE DI INVIO

Il concorso è internazionale e aperto a studenti attualmente iscritti a un istituto scolastico che insegna tessuti, moda, tessuti per interni o lifestyle. Possono partecipare i laureati del 2022 e del 2023.
