Angelica Bergamini – Follow the Thread

Cross-cultural studies and an interest in philosophy and psychology guide the artistic research of Angelica Bergamini, intersecting aesthetic and ethical values. She considers her work as a visual poem, thus conceiving art as a bridge between contemplation and action and her work as an act of meditation on the quest for balance between the inner and outer worlds. Interested in the world of the archetype and the energy that emanates from it, she questions what lies beyond the conscious mind, living her artistic research as an exploration of the reservoir of knowledge that the unconscious represents and researching the relationship between the personal and collective unconscious. She relies on imagery and practice, rather than theory, to create a connection between the unconscious and the conscious mind, in search of a holistic view of the self and the world. The choice of thread is both technical and conceptual: for “Clouds” she used a material that could evoke the visual presence of the untouchable consistency of the natural element and its mutability in the light.

THE ARTISTS

Angelica Bergamini is an Italian-born visual artist and color therapist based in New York City. She spent academic years in Spain at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada and the Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, graduating cum laude in Painting from the Fine Arts Academy of Florence (Italy). She has recently concluded her Master’s degree in Partnership studies and Shamanismat the University of Udine (Italy) to deepen aspects of partnership investigations (based on the work ofthe cultural historian Riane Eisler) by acquiring psychological, sociological, and anthropological foundations of traditional Shamanism. She has shown in the US, Europe, and China, including C24Gallery, Tanja Grunert, Lehman College Art Gallery, Ivy Brown, White Box, BRIC Arts Media, Photo NewYork (New York), Torrance Art Museum (Los Angeles), Chelsea Space (London), Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre (Paris), Färgfabriken (Stockholm), Pari&Dispari (Milan and Reggio Emilia) and at Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery (Hong Kong). Her latest solo show was at MuSA, Museum of Sculpture and Architecture, in Pietrasanta (Italy).

Studi interculturali e un interesse per la filosofia e la psicologia guidano la ricerca artistica di Angelica Bergamini, intersecando valori estetici ed etici. Considera il suo lavoro come una poesia visiva, concependo così l’arte come un ponte tra contemplazione e azione e il suo lavoro come un atto di meditazione sulla ricerca dell’equilibrio tra mondo interiore ed esteriore. Interessata al mondo dell’archetipo e all’energia che da esso si sprigiona, si interroga su ciò che si trova al di là della mente cosciente, vivendo la sua ricerca artistica come un’esplorazione del serbatoio di conoscenza che l’inconscio rappresenta e ricercando la relazione tra inconscio personale e collettivo. Si affida all’immaginario e alla pratica, piuttosto che alla teoria, per creare una connessione tra l’inconscio e la mente cosciente, alla ricerca di una visione olistica del sé e del mondo. La scelta del filo è sia tecnica che concettuale: per “Clouds” ha utilizzato un materiale che potesse evocare la presenza visiva della consistenza intoccabile dell’elemento naturale e della sua mutevolezza alla luce.

L’ARTISTA

Angelica Bergamini è un’artista visiva e cromoterapeuta di origine italiana con sede a New York. Ha trascorso anni accademici in Spagna presso la Facoltà di Belle Arti dell’Università di Granada e il Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia di Madrid, laureandosi con lode in Pittura all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze (Italia). Ha recentemente concluso il Master in Partnership studies e Sciamanesimo presso l’Università di Udine (Italia) per approfondire gli aspetti della ricerca sulla partnership (basata sul lavoro della storica culturale Riane Eisler) acquisendo le basi psicologiche, sociologiche e antropologiche dello Sciamanesimo tradizionale. Ha esposto negli Stati Uniti, in Europa e in Cina, tra cui C24Gallery, Tanja Grunert, Lehman College Art Gallery, Ivy Brown, White Box, BRIC Arts Media, Photo NewYork (New York), Torrance Art Museum (Los Angeles), Chelsea Space (Londra), Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre (Parigi), Färgfabriken (Stoccolma), Pari&Dispari (Milano e Reggio Emilia) e alla Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery (Hong Kong). La sua ultima mostra personale si è tenuta al MuSA, Museo della Scultura e dell’Architettura, di Pietrasanta (Italia).
